Description:
This project consists of a qualitative study on the attitudes of compulsory education teachers (primary and secondary) regarding the impact of migration in the classroom. It is carried out by the Socio-educational, Intercultural, Society and Media Inclusion Research Group (SIMI) of the International University of La Rioja.
The project seeks to generate a better understanding of teachers’ attitudes and knowledge of cultural diversity in Spain. It also seeks to map cultural expectations and stereotypes towards migrant students, identifying the features that characterise diverse educational contexts. Finally, this research project identifies and maps the variables that influence the diverse attitudes of teachers regarding their perception of migrant students in their classrooms.
The project has created and will create a series of academic materials and resources (2 articles and a research book) and training resources, such as infographic materials, videos and a specialised webinar, didactic primers for teaching staff, training ‘open classes’. In addition, these results are disseminated through SIMI and university networks.
