Under the lead of the European Trade Union Committee for Education, this project seeks to ensure efficient preparation for teachers, academics and education personel regarding intercultural competences. The project supports their target group to deal with diverse clasrooms and implement inclusive education. The methodology applied is continues teacher training, combined with the provision of necessary support in their everyday world. This continuous learning is based on 4 main fields of interventions:
National Action Days: This activity consisted of a series of activities that the partner organisations will carry out in a coordinated way. These activities (Action Days) will have the topic of diversity and inclusion as a horizontal principle, but each of them regards a specific topic. The objective of these National Action Days was to raise awareness about the professional needs of teachers and school staff when it comes to addressing diversity in the classroom. In order to increase cohesive actions, they took place on selected International Days. All project partners committed to carry out activities related to the following dates:
- International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3rd December, 2020). Some of the activities regarded the publishing of surveys and academic studies regarding the inclusion of migrant students into educational spaces, seminars about preventing study-related musculoskeletal disorder with ergonomics, training course on teaching methods for students with SEN, developing a new disability reading resource for primary and early years…
- International Migrants Day (18th December, 2020). During this day, partners promoted internal resources, targeting at addressing migrants rights and inclusion, such as teaching packs, booklets, Welcome Refugees packs… moreover, there were several events carried out in their partners countries which involved seminars and talks, distributing communiqués, social media messages, posts and promoting blogpost aimed at addressing migrant inclusion.
- International Womens Day (8th March, 2021)Activities aimed at raising awareness about the prevention of gender-based violence, new dangers on the web and women stereotypes. They consisted mostly on seminars, webinars, practical activities (Women’s Alphabet), film making, face to face meetings, informational campaigns…
- International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (17th May, 2021). Activities aimed at ensuring that LGTBI issues are reflected consistently in the school curriculum, and inclusive training becomes the norm
Moreover, the project developed a Catalogue of Good practices on Inclusive Schools, with the aim of creating resource building and maintaining sustainable inclusive learning environments in various national and local contexts by presenting a wide range of inspiring practices gathered in the framework of various ETUCE projects and initiatives. Furthermore, this Catalogue was supported by an Online Database of Good practices, available for free use.
Lastly, a series of webinars and training courses were also developed with the ultimate aim of creating a sense of belonging, changing mindsets, maintaining an effective multi-stakeholder social dialogue and organising adequate professional training for educational personnel.
