The issue of social diversity in schools, middle schools and high schools is not new. But it remains relevant with the various findings recently published, the new systems recommended and the reforms implemented. It is also clearly stated that the public education service ensures “the social diversity of school populations within educational establishments” (Article L111-1 of the Education Code, August 26, 2021)1. “Reducing segregation between schools, or improving social diversity, is part of the missions of the public education service” (Charousset, Monnet and Souidi, 2023, p. 2). This is why this file proposes an update of research on these subjects.
